The 500 Group was
formed in 1989 for people who have an interest in the buses and operations
of Cleveland Transit and its predecessors
We have about a hundred members, many from outside the
area. They are from all social and age groups, but all have an interest in
buses.
We cater for those whose interest is in historical matters, preservation
of vehicles and vintage bus rallies as well as the modern transport scene.
We have regular
monthly meetings on the last Tuesday of each month at:
The Billingham Arms Hotel
Queensway – Billingham
The meetings start at 7.30 p.m.
We have visiting speakers, photographic
presentation and social evenings
All are welcome to attend to see what we do
We have a bi-monthly newsletter, packed with Group news, historical
articles and fleet news.
Our Classic Buses.
The 500 Group own three buses that are native to Teesside, which we
have preserved for future generations.
· 1958 Dennis Loline Mk.I - JDC 599: ex. Middlesbrough
Corporation. Fully restored by the 500 Group, this bus has won many
awards.
· 1967 Leyland PD3 - JVN 40 E: used by the T.R.T.B., we are hoping
to restore this vehicle to it's original condition, when funds and time
allow.
· 1973 Daimler Fleetline - JDC 544 L: The mainstay of our
fleet, this vehicle was acquired 'New' by Teesside Municipal Transport. We
currently use it to travel to rallies throughout the north of England.
We attend vintage vehicle rallies through out the North of England in
these vehicles, they are usually held on Sundays or Bank Holidays. |
